Let’s Debate in French!

Learn French in a meaningful and engaging way through philosophical discussion and debate.

Passionate about philosophy and philosophical analysis, I host a monthly online group debate where learners of French come together to think, speak, and exchange ideas in French. Each session is designed to help you gain confidence, enrich your vocabulary, and express your thoughts more clearly — without pressure.

How it works

  • One live online philosophy debate per month (about 60 minutes)

  • Guided discussion around a philosophical question chosen by the group or the teacher

  • Friendly, supportive atmosphere — all levels welcome

  • Small group to encourage participation and interaction

What you will practice

  • Speaking French naturally and confidently

  • Learning and using key vocabulary and useful expressions

  • Developing your ability to argue, explain, and react in French

  • Improving critical thinking through discussion and debate

Community

  • By joining the club, you also get access to an online community where you can continue the discussion, share ideas, and connect with other French learners and philosophy enthusiasts between sessions.

Example topics:

  • Identity and the self: Who am I, really?

  • Time and memory: Does the past define who we are?

  • Happiness and the meaning of life: Can we be happy without freedom?

  • Morality and ethics: Should we always tell the truth?

  • Power and society: Is democracy the best form of government?

  • Science and knowledge: Is it possible to know everything?

  • Social justice: Is equality achievable?

  • Art and aesthetics: Should art be understood or felt?

  • Fate and free will: Are we in control of our lives?

  • Human nature: Are humans naturally good or evil?
